About Us

The Women's Cancer Center is the largest group of physicians treating gynecologic cancers in California. Our team of gynecologic and surgical oncologists specializes in the treatment of female reproductive tract malignancies, pelvic surgery and breast cancer. We also treat most solid organ tumors, including colon, rectum, pancreas, stomach and kidney tumors.

Patients are accepted on a referral basis only. This allows referring physicians to provide patients with state-of-the-art cancer treatment and continue to be directly involved in their care as part of the team.

As a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), a multi-disciplinary research organization funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Women's Cancer Center offers patients "leading edge" care. Where appropriate, the patient is given the opportunity to participate in investigational clinical trials, treatments not yet available to the general public.

The physicians at Women's Cancer Center have helped pioneer the use of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of patients with gynecologic cancers. The NCI approved the Women's Cancer Center, along with only six other major institutions in the United States, to study this approach.

The Women's Cancer Center also offers a comprehensive screening program for gynecologic malignancies. A combination of approaches--including physical examinations, ultrasonography, mammography, and tumor marker tests--is used. Under certain circumstances, this service is available to family members of patients and other "at risk" women.

The Women's Cancer Center has eleven locations throughout California. Centers are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The administrative office is at the Palo Alto location.
